The long-lasting FIFA saga created by the sports division of Electronic Arts, EA Sports, is still very popular. And it's easy to understand by just taking a look at FIFA 19, the latest installment of the football simulator par excellence that has been updated for the 2018-2019 soccer season with improvements that affect its graphics and playability, and obviously all the squads and rosters that are included in its database.
FIFA doesn't require any kind of presentation. It's the most popular soccer video game in the world, together with PES, as it has millions of players all over the planet. The main reason is that it offers us a simulator gaming experience that can hardly be equalled by any other game, high-quality graphics that get even better year after year, the appeal of being able to play with all the official squads of the teams in its database (a huge advantage regarding its main rival, Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer) or the most important official national and international competitions (Champions League, Spanish LaLiga, English Premier League, Italian Serie A, German Bundesliga, French Ligue 1, UEFA Europa League..).
What's new in FIFA 19
We already know all about the historical assets of EA Sports' soccer game. But, what's so special about this version for the 2018-2019 season? What has been improved? Let's go into details:
- Players' real movements have been improved: it improves the technology by means of which user can simulate with his movements the personality of real-life players. The latter can found in actions such as physical charges, tactical defenses, balance in the case of impact..
- Split balls: now when fighting for a split ball, the player's features and skills to control a ball will be of utmost importance.
- Active touch system: the game has changed how we receive and touch the ball, providing us closer controls, greater fluidity, and more creativity when it comes to moving the ball around. One-touch receptions, receive and sidestep, control and volley, dribble.. In fact, you'll come across the specific skills of some of the most talented players in the world such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Messi, Neymar or Mbappé, with their very own trademark moves.
- Dynamic Tactics: as happens in real-life soccer, depending on the tactical approach applied to the play, your team will adapt to a defensive or offensive football style, adapting to all situations that may take place during a match in real time.
- Definition: shots, headers, strikes.. the way each player defines has been debugged to make such a moment of the match in front of the opposing goal as decisive as it should be.
- Quick match: this popular feature has been overhauled with new modes and the possibility to register stats, amongst other functions, to make it more attractive to compete with friends.
All these new features have been added to those incorporated gradually to the saga over the last few years, such as FIFA Ultimate Team or The Journey mode. In this progression mode, we'll be able to reach stardom with Alex Hunter, Danny Williams, and Kim Hunter and their interweaving stories, switching between characters whenever we want to live a different experience. And we'll obviously be able to play with the best football players in the world of the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar Jr., Messi, Mbappé, Paulo Dybala, Paul Pogba.. amongst many others.
The final release date for this game has been set for September 28th 2018. And apart from being available for PC, it will also be launched on other platforms such as Xbox One or PS4, reaching almost the entire football gaming universe.

FIFA 19 is a footballsimulationvideo game developed by EA Vancouver as part of Electronic Arts' FIFA series. Announced on 6 June 2018 for its E3 2018 press conference, it was released on 28 September 2018 for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Microsoft Windows.[2] It is the 26th installment in the FIFA series. As with FIFA 18, Cristiano Ronaldo initially as the cover athlete of the regular edition: however, following his unanticipated transfer from Spanish club Real Madrid to Italian side Juventus, new cover art was released, featuring Hazrol Box V4, Neymar, Kevin De Boxer [3]Paulo Dybala. [4]
The game features the UEFA club competitions for the first time, including the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League.[4]Martin Tyler and Alan Smith return as regular commentators, while the new commentary team of Derek Rae and Lee Dixon feature in the UEFA competitions mode.[4] Composer Hans Zimmer and rapper Vince Staples recorded a new remix of the UEFA Champions League anthem specifically for the game.[5] The character Alex Hunter, who first appeared in FIFA 17 returns for the third and final installment of 'The Journey', entitled, 'The Journey: Champions'.[4] In June 2019, a free update added the FIFA Women's World Cup as a separate game mode.
This is the last game in the FIFA series to be available on a seventh-generation console, and the last known game to be available for the PlayStation 3 worldwide.

Gameplay[edit]
Gameplay changes on FIFA 19 include the new 'Active Touch System'— an overhaul of player control, 'timed finishing'— where the kick button may be pressed a second time to determine the exact moment the ball is actually kicked,[6] '50/50 battles'— a system for determining how likely a player will win loose balls, and 'Dynamic Tactics'— which allows players to configure strategies, and switch between them in real-time during a match.
FIFA 19 introduces the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and UEFA Super Cup competitions to the game, after their licenses with Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer expired. The game will have support for promotion and relegation between the Champions League and Europa League.[7]Martin Tyler and Alan Smith return as regular commentators with Derek Rae and Lee Dixon as Champions League commentators. Geoff Shreeves also returns as the touchline reporter as well as Alan McInally providing updates from around the league. New graphics and stadiums have been implemented.[4]
Composer Hans Zimmer and rapper Vince Staples recorded a new remix of the UEFA Champions League anthem specifically for FIFA 19. It can also be heard in the game's reveal trailer.[5]
The Nintendo Switch port will receive upgrades over FIFA 18. On 9 June 2018, EA Sports uploaded an official reveal trailer on their YouTube channel. Cristiano Ronaldo returned as the global cover star for a second consecutive time. He and Neymar appear on the Champions and Ultimate Edition packs for the game. However, he was taken off of the cover in the middle of February. Now, it just features Neymar as the main cover star. Men's football stars Kevin De Bruyne and Paulo Dybala also feature, as well as USWNT star Alex Morgan.[4] It reported that it will include 55 national teams with 35 licensed leagues.[7]
It was confirmed that the game would have a licensed Serie A after being called 'Calcio A' (due to licensing issues) in FIFA 17 and FIFA 18.[8] The game will include the Chinese Super League, the first FIFA title to do so.[9][10][11] However, it was confirmed that the game will not include the Russian Premier League, as it did in FIFA 18 and previous FIFAs.[12] Russian Premier League teams CSKA Moscow, Spartak Moscow, and Lokomotiv Moscow were kept, while Dinamo Zagreb, Dynamo Kyiv, Slavia Praha, and Viktoria Plzen were added to the game. Boca Juniors appears as Buenos Aires FC in the game since the club signed a deal with Konami[13]; for the same reasons, Colo-Colo appears as CD Viñazur. Once again, due to Konami securing deals with certain Brazilian clubs, the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A is featured in an incomplete form, this time with only 15 clubs, with the notable omissions of São Paulo, Palmeiras, Corinthians, Flamengo and Vasco da Gama, all of which are Konami partners. The remaining Brazilian clubs, while appearing with licensed branding, do not have any of their players licensed due to an ongoing judicial dispute over image rights, which are negotiated individually with each player, unlike other countries.
As with every FIFA game, there are new skills included, with Andrés Iniesta’s signature move, La Croqueta, featuring in FIFA 19.[8] 25 new icons have been added to the Ultimate Team in FIFA 19, including Rivaldo, Roberto Baggio, Johan Cruyff, George Best, Luís Figo, Steven Gerrard, Roy Keane, Ryan Giggs, Bobby Moore, Franco Baresi, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Eusébio, Hidetoshi Nakata, Fabio Cannavaro, Michael Ballack, Miroslav Klose, Jens Lehmann, Claude Makelele, and Frank Lampard.[14] New goal celebrations featured include Kylian Mbappé’s ‘Little Brother’, Roberto Firmino’s ‘Matador’, Mohamed Salah performing a sujud, Neymar's ‘Hang Loose’, while Cristiano Ronaldo and his nearest teammate both perform Ronaldo's trademark ‘Siii’ jump together.[15]
New stadiums confirmed for FIFA 19 include the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Molineux Stadium, home of Wolverhampton Wanderers, Craven Cottage, home of Fulham, and the Cardiff City Stadium, home of Cardiff City and Wales national football team, ensuring all 20 English Premier League grounds are featured.[16] There will also be 16 new stadiums from the Spanish La Liga, with 3 more from the Spanish Segunda Division.[17] The only absent stadium from La Liga will be the Camp Nou, due to Barcelona's exclusive deal with rival game Pro Evolution Soccer 2019.[18] The only new Major League Soccer stadium featured is the Mercedes-Benz Stadium of Atlanta United, joining LA Galaxy's StubHub Center and Seattle Sounders' CenturyLink Field.[19]
The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions, known as FIFA 19: Legacy Edition, do not contain any new gameplay features aside from updated kits and squads.[20]
Downloadable content[edit]
On 29 May 2019, EA announced a free update featuring content from the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup tournament. The DLC updates the women's teams already featured on the game and adds the remaining 10 teams that are participating in the tournament. 20 of the teams in the tournament feature licensed kits and players (Italy has unlicensed kits but correct player names, Chile and Brazil have licensed kits but generic player names, South Africa is completely unlicensed). These teams can be played in both Kick Off and International Women's Cup mode, additionally the Kick Off mode features a new scenario in which the player can compete in the final at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais. [21] It is the first time that the FIFA Women's World Cup has been utilised in a video game of some form.
The Journey: Champions[edit]
The story-based mode that was introduced in FIFA 17 returns in this installment and continues for the last installment under the title 'The Journey: Champions'. In this installment, Alex Hunter signs for Real Madrid and tries to become their star player after Cristiano Ronaldo leaves for Italian giants Juventus.[22] As FIFA 19 has the full Champions League licence, Hunter also competes for Champions League glory. Danny Williams returns trying to carve out a name for himself and compete for the Champions League hardware. Alex Hunter's half-sister, Kim Hunter, tries to compete for the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup. The game mode features guest stars such as Kevin De Bruyne, Neymar Jr, Paulo Dybala, and Alex Morgan.[23] Gareth Walker and Dino, who previously appeared in FIFA 17 and FIFA 18, don't appear in the storyline for unknown reasons, though Walker does send the characters a few abusive tweets during the story. The game also introduces other fictional new characters whose names include Beatriz 'Bea' Villanova, who is Alex Hunter's new agent, Danny Williams' estranged brother and Paris Saint-Germain F.C. defender Terry, USWNT coach Marriane de Silva, Real Madrid C.F. coach Bartholomew Cazares, Danny Williams friend Ringo, and Melanie Trembley, a player of the Canada women's national soccer team who serves as Kim Hunter's rival in her story .
Story[edit]
Following a recap of the events of the previous journey, the game starts out with Alex Hunter, his half-sister Kim and friend Danny Williams watching a video of Hunter's grandfather, Jim Hunter, scoring his 100th career goal for his club in a First Division match at Coventry City. They then train with their respective teams for a pre-season friendly tournament held in Japan - ending with Alex and Danny's teams facing each other in the tournament's final, while Kim trains with United States national team for the upcoming FIFA World Cup. Alex then meets Beatriz Villanova, a football agent who promises to make him an icon in world football, and does so by agreeing him a 5 year contract with Spanish club Real Madrid.
Danny is preparing to make his debut in the Champions League with Alex's first club, as his replacement. In doing so, he comes into contact with his estranged brother Terry, who plays as a defender for Paris Saint-Germain and their childhood rivalry is ignited. Alex is also preparing for his Champions League debut. and is trained by various mentors. Having qualified for the World Cup, Kim is obliged to participate in a friendly against Canada, but struggles to balance her studies and school life.
Both Alex and Danny's teams make it out of their respective Champions League groups, and are drawn at opposite ends of the bracket. Alex soon becomes increasingly concerned about his brand and demands from his agent regarding sponsorship duties, which drives a wedge between his family. Alex forgets to pick Kim up from the airport, due to him being too busy with his new clothing brand. Alex is then dropped from the team entirely before the first knockout game in the Champions League, with his manager also concerned about his priorities. Meanwhile, Danny also struggles to balance his personal and professional life, arguing with friend Ringo over a new house. Nevertheless, both their teams make it to the semi-finals of the competition.
Kim has made it to the World Cup, and has a budding strike partnership with Alex Morgan. However, she argues with her manager after being dropped to the bench, and is almost sent home, but given a lifeline after helping the side through to the knockout rounds. Alex and Beatriz then come to visit Kim before the first knockout game and Beatriz, having been impressed by Kim's abilities, tells her that she should forgo college and go pro, which causes a rift between Kim and her father. Meanwhile, Alex faces Juventus and Danny once again faces Paris Saint-Germain. Both defeat their rivals and progress to the Champions League final, with Danny and Terry reconciling at the end of the match.
Kim prepares for the World Cup final but is almost suspended after her coach finds out she was discussing pro contracts, which a player cannot do while on international duty. If Kim wins the final, she celebrates with her team, and it's implied that she signed a pro contract with a club. If she loses, she goes to college to finish her studies, though she still hopes to go pro one day. In the Champions League final, regardless of who wins, the losing character takes their defeat graciously, as the other celebrates being crowned the best club team in Europe. Jim then tells Alex he has never been prouder of him and that when he retires, he will be the greatest Hunter of all time, thus drawing Alex Hunter's journey to an end.
